pre CNY
i would say that my relationship with CNY is a hate-love relationship.
i'm not contradicting myself.
let's start with the love part...
what is CNY without the goodies, abalone, gambling, big ang baos and a visit to chinatown?
yes, chinatown...
dont you just love breathing in the stuffy air (sounds sick doesnt it?) hear the familiar touting shouts and get attracted by the asethetic colors?
even for a crowd-hater like me, it seems like sth that i cant afford to miss every CNY.
trying to get pics taken is a challenge though..
other than ang mohs, all others holding on to a camera and taking shots in the middle of the street just look somewhat outta place.
passer-bys would stare, stall owners would walk out to check..
i was so tempted to shout.. WHAT's WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE??!!! I JUST WANT MY PICTURE TAKEN!!!
getting both of us in the picture is yet another challenge.
lulu: i want to see the background
baby: give me the camera, your hands are too short.
lulu: fine.
(after the pic was taken)
baby: see, nice
lulu: my chin is not in the pic
baby: why are you so short?
what can i say??
lulu: next time we should get a camera stand.
baby: ya, so that we can place it there, set the self timer and allow people to grab and and run right?
...
will post up the pathetic few pics later,
cos my cable grew legs.
to the hate part of CNY.
for people who are 25 and above and without a partner, reason for hating CNY is obvious.
for me, it's so much more superficial, material and bimbotic.
haha..
ten things i hate about CNY
1) eating/not being able to eat things that i love cos of weight issues
2) seeing some annoying relatives (ok, it's nothing much, just that their faces irks me)
3) relatives' praises (wow, so big alr, so pretty) not only does it get me embarrassed, it bores me (hellooo.. i know that i'm pretty..)
*lol*
4) gambling (cos i ALWAYS end up losing)
5) angbaos (cos it's getting smaller with every passin year)
6) the early morning (waking up early to get to my granny's place is really a hassle)
7) the "can't dos" (why can't i break a bowl, sweep the floor or quarrel with my mom??!! I WANT TO WEAR BLACK!)
8) greetings (will people really fa cai if i say gong xi fai cai?? NO!!! why must i greet my cousins who are only a few years older than i am jie jie?! disgusting!!)
9) the mandarin oranges (since they're nice and healthy to eat, why must we give 2 nice and juicy ones to people in exchange for 2 old and wrinkled ones?)
10) the visiting (other than the possible big ang baos, there's nothing to look forward to visiting unrelated people; meaning dad's wife's godmother's mother.. sth like that. totally unrelated. what am i to say??)
